Animal Kempos: These are techniques modeled after one of the five Shaolin animals: Tiger, Dragon, Leopard, Crane, and Snake. Which are you?
Master Ley's "Kempo Alley" These are the core set of Kempo punch techniques brought to us from Master Frank Ley. They are mostly categorized into various groups for ease of memory.
Tributary Kempos: These are techniques that various instructors were kind enough to teach us, or are listed in memory of certain individuals who have passed away as the case may be.
10 Laws of the Fist by Professor Charles Mattera: Many of these are more advanced principles being applied, but yet it is good information for white belts and black belts alike. Please do not hesitate to ask your instructor for further details. If you're a brown belt or higher, memorize them, know them, work on applying them!
Knife Defenses: The knife brings about a series of problems obviously related to the knife. However, getting better at knife techniques is also an excellent way to develop one's timing for sparring.
Club Defenses: Many club defenses can double as knife defenses, however, not all, so be careful not to confuse the various techniques. The club, while less dangerous than the knife, is still not to be taken lightly. | |
